Author: Spiritan Media

The Elite Debates & Talks Club (EDTC) was founded on 20 February, 2021 by Rev. Fr. Dr. Chinedu Nwadike CSSp. as a club positioned to make significant contributions to youth development, youth empowerment and social progress by tackling many contemporary issues and challenges faced by students and youths in today’s world. Staff moderators of the Club are Dr. Ifeyinwa Daniel, Mr Otitochukwu Odoemenam, and Mr. Victor Okwum.
The Club provides a platform for young members to learn some social skills they do not have and to discover and groom latent talents to full blossom. Members are nurtured to become critical thinkers and opinion leaders through activities like participating in competitive debates, guest talks and group discussions all of which are carried out with good research background and effective delivery.
The Club is rendering great services to God and society as members travel to many locations and states in Nigeria for these purposes. EDTC Guest Talk Tours have taken a good number of their members to some secondary schools, Catholic parishes and other environments in Rivers State, Anambra State, and Enugu State. Some more states including Abuja, FCT will be covered in no distant time as invitations keep coming and these will include television appearances and radio programs. People really love and appreciate what members of EDTC are doing.
Topics handled during some EDTC Guest Talks include:
- How to step up to the challenges of injustices and racism in the modern word.
- How to realize our potentials rather than give up.
- How to manage peer pressure.
- How to set one’s priorities right.
- How to terminate drug abuse and immorality in our lives.
- How to manage friendships in our lives.
- Practical ways of changing one’s life.
- Essential life skills to acquire.
- Peer group pressure.
- Drug abuse and its effects.
- 14 steps to good study and memory power.
The Club is slowly and meticulously creating a growing community where professionals and beginners from all over the world can interact freely in the area of public speaking and social activism. It has proven to be a foundation for more enlightened, interactive, and entertaining discourse both within and outside the educational field. EDTC’s motto summarises it: Masters of Thought and Speech!
Birthed in Spiritan University Nneochi (SUN), Abia State, one of the top private universities in the country and a university with bright prospects at the international level, the Elite Debates & Talks Club is energizing the global visibility of SUN and holds great promises of becoming a platform for Nigerian intellectuals aiming to reach a global audience in the long run. The Club welcomes collaboration with individuals and groups with similar interests.
